Wanted man apprehended in city

Princeton Police on Thursday apprehended a man wanted in Brooklyn Center for felony domestic assault.

The Brooklyn Center Police Department, after learning its suspect might be in Princeton,  contacted the Princeton Police Department requesting assistance in locating the 30-year-old male, said Sgt. Joe Backlund of the Princeton Police Department.

After their own investigation, Princeton officers located the suspect’s vehicle at a residence in the 1000 block of 8th Avenue N. Officers established contact with a resident of the home, located the suspect, and apprehended him without incident, Backlund said. The suspect was also wanted on a domestic assault warrant out of Hennepin County.

When authorities learned the suspect might be in the north Princeton area, the school district was notified, which resulted in a lockdown of North Elementary School and Princeton Middle School.

The suspect was transported to the Mille Lacs County Jail, Backlund said.  He was later transferred to Hennepin County.
