Kathryn Nelson

A memorial service for Kathryn J. Nelson, 67, of Minneapolis, Minn.at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minneapolis with the Rev. Dr. John H. Manrodt officiating. Burial will be at a future date at the Borgholm Cemetery in Milaca.

Kathryn died Jan. 3, at the Augustanna Care Center in Minneapolis.

She was born March 4, 1944 in St. Cloud, Minn. to Harold and Alta (Helmen) Nelson. She attended country school District #49 (O’Neil) and graduated from Milaca High School in 1962. She then went to the Minnesota School of Business. Completing her program of study, she went to work for Fanny Farmer for 21 years. Returning to school, she completed her Associate Accounting Degree. She then worked for Thermo-Dyne for 20 years until retiring from full time work.

She was Director of the Zoom House for three years. Volunteer work was very important to Kathy, she was active in the Zoom House, the Augustanna Care Center auxiliary and at her church (Zion Lutheran) where she was involved in activities too numerous to list.

Kathy loved her family very much, especially her nephew nd nieces and their children, participating in many activities with them.

She is survived by her brother Dennis (Carol) of Milaca; nephew Dean Nelson of Maple Grove; nieces, Debra (Daren) Swanson of Mora and Diane (Tom) Offerdahl of Sartell; grandnephews, Daniel (fiance Christy) of Rochester and Kobe of Mora; grand-nieces Miranda of Ortonville, Cara of Iowa, Nichole (friend John) of Minneapolis, Tessa of Mankato, Hannah of Mora and Bailey of Sartell; special friends, Bruce and Karen Espelien and Don and Sue Malofa; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Harold  and Alta; and infant nephew David Nelson.
Arrangements were by the Minnesota Cremation Society of Minneapolis.
