Council liaisons set for upcoming year

Princeton City Council members decided at their Jan. 12 meeting to stay with the same liaison positions that they had the year before, with council member Dick Dobson having the most liaison slots.

Council liaisons attend boards or commissions matching their liaison post and keep track of their business for the purpose of helping the rest of the council with business that may involve those groups.

Dobson is liaison to the planning commission (where he is also a member), park board, airport advisory board, Public Utilities Commission, and Housing & Redevelopment Authority.

Council members Paul Whitcomb, Victoria Hallin and Thom Walker are all liaisons to the city’s economic development authority board, where they are also members.

Whitcomb is also a liaison to, a member and chair of the Fire Advisory Board, which consists of representatives of the government units in the Princeton Fire and Rescue Department’s service territory.

Hallin is liaison to and member of the East Central Cable TV Commission, and also liaison to the Princeton Area Library Society, and the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Mayor Jeremy Riddle is liaison to the Mille Lacs County Historical Society, and liaison to and member of the East Central Regional Development Commission.

Council member Walker observed at the council meeting that Dobson looks “busy” with all of his liaison positions, and offered to assist Dobson with any of the liaison jobs if Dobson needed help.

“I enjoy all the ones I’m on,” Dobson said.
