STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. In a collaborative effort among the PHS STEM departments, PHS Career Center, Princeton Learning and Living Committee, Princeton Middle School and Superintendent Lahn, we will create a hands-on experience between students and businesses.
We will be hosting two separate sessions. The first will be held in the morning for all 8th grade students from Princeton Middle School. The second session will be held in the afternoon for high school students. High school students interested in attending will sign up in the career center.
Each session will encompass two parts. The first part consists of businesses discussing how they use STEM in their operations, and the second part consists of businesses providing hands-on demonstrations that illustrate the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in their company. Some of the businesses involved include Kivisto Veterinary Clinic, Coborns, East Central Energy, Fairview Health Services, Dr. Lingle DDS, Biomatrix International, Glenn Metalcraft, Inc., Buhler mfg, Pine Technical College, E-Ride, Inline Pkg., PUC, and others.
This is a great opportunity for students to find out first hand just how important Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are for them. For more information, or if your business would like to participate, contact Jill Overby in the PHS career cvnter at 389-6958.
