Milaca Wrestling Coach Randy Zimmer will step down at the end of this season, his 24th as head coach at the school.
“I’ve been thinking about it for a while, probably a couple of seasons,” said Zimmer Monday. “And, I believe this season is the right time.
“I told this year’s team my decision at the start of practice. There were rumors this was going to be my last season and I didn’t want that hanging over the team. I wanted the wrestlers to know so it would not be a distraction for them.
“I’m proud of the program we have here at Milaca. We’ve established our program as one that can compete at a high level. And, I’m confident that we will continue to be successful.”
Zimmer hasn’t officially turned in his resignation as coach but has informed superintendent Jerry Hansen and athletic director Jerry Westphal about his decision.
