Mille Lacs to survey residents during plan project

As part of the ongoing comprehensive plan project, Mille Lacs County will be surveying residents to gather opinions on a variety of topics. The data gathered from the survey will be used to assist the assigned task forces in developing goals and policies in the areas of economic development, social programs, public safety, land use, transportation, recreation and tourism, environment and energy, housing, and more. Resident input is very important to help shape county policies for the next 7-10 years. This data will be also used by the county Planning Commission and Board of Commissioners in future decision-making upon completion of the comprehensive plan.

Surveys are being mailed out to a random 20 percent of addresses within Mille Lacs County.

Surveys should be completed and returned in the self-addressed stamped envelope by March 16.  Residents’ input is critical to the planning process.

Input is still needed from those who do not receive a paper copy. Those not receiving a survey in the mail may fill out the survey online, or may pick one up at the Administrative Services Office in the Historic Courthouse in Milaca or request one to be sent via e-mail at [email protected] A link to the electronic survey can be found on the Mille Lacs County website: starting March 1, 2012. All surveys, whether by mail or online, are to be completed and returned by March 16.

Results will be tabulated and a report created that will be used in the planning process to help guide the development of the comprehensive plan.   The final comprehensive plan is a document that reflects the values and sentiments of residents on a variety of topics, as listed above, that will be used by the county to assist in decision-making and planning over the next several years.
