Obituary: Richard Bakeberg

Richard “Rik” Bakeberg, age 62, of Princeton, MN passed away Friday, March 2, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.

Richard “Rik” Bakeberg was born May 10, 1949 in Minneapolis, MN the son of Ernest and Dolores (Stocky) Bakeberg.  He grew up in Fridley, MN and graduated from Fridley High School.  After high school, Rick proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  He worked many years at Lamaur manufacturing in Fridley.  On December 20, 1980, Rik was united in marriage with Marlene (Grow) Carlson.  In his earlier years, Rik enjoyed bowling, softball and family fishing trips to Lake Winnebegosh.  After losing his legs, he continued to enjoy computer games, crossword puzzles, playing cards, watching sports, playing with his cat, Sundance, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.


Rik is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marlene; daughter Lisa (Ron) Rivers; step children Jim Carlson, Gina (John) Hunn, Matthew Carlson and Tiffany Carlson; 11 grandchildren; mother Dolores Bakeberg; sisters Linda Flynn, Darlene (Jim) Halvorson, Nancy (Al) Priest; as well as many other relatives and friends.


He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Bakeberg.


Memorial Gathering:  5-8 PM Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Princeton, MN with a prayer service at 7:45 PM.
