Dophrone Ogee

Dophrone Ogee, age 94 of North Mankato, died Thursday June 7, 2012 at the Elim Home Turnaround Rehabilitation Center in Princeton.

Dophrone was born on March 14, 1918 in Grant City, Mo. to Charles and Elpha (Coy) Hughes. On June 23, 1940 she married Glenn Ogee at Belgrade Avenue Methodist Church. She was a dedicated homemaker, loving mother and wife.

Dophrone enjoyed making canopies, sewing clothes, cooking exotic dishes, decoupage, candle making, canning, rosemaling, writing poetry, crocheting, playing Scrabble and cards, reading, and thinking up projects for Glenn to do. She was always on the lookout for interesting classes to take at the college and taught many how to Rosemal. She was a member of the Toastmasters and County Extension. She was a member of the Belgrade United Methodist church participating in the Esther circle. In her retirement years she volunteered at the Thrift store and Feed my Starving Children.

Dophrone is survived by her sons David (Sharon) of Thorndale, Texas, Charles (MaryJean) of Talmoon, John (Denise) of Yelm, Wash.; daughters Tammie (George) Walker of Princeton, Shelly (Jon) Wingen of Good Thunder; grandchildren Michelle Ogee, Michael Ogee, Johanna Robinson, Molly Himel, George Walker, Karen Gibbs, Andre Walker, Sara Wingen, Nicole Richards, Louis Wingen, and Carllie Wingen; great grandchildren Seth Robinson, Micah Robinson, Hayden Gibbs, Ella Himel and Natalie Ann Dophrone Gibbs.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, and brother Eldon.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday June 13, at Woodland Hills Funeral home. The funeral service will be at the Belgrade United Methodist Church on Thursday June 14, at 2 p.m. in North Mankato. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
