Clifford Bargfeld

Clifford Bargfeld, age 92, of Princeton died Thursday, August 30, 2012 at his home in Princeton.

Clifford was born on July 28, 1920 in Beach, North Dakota to Herman & Margaret (Neuman) Bargfeld.  He grew up a child of the depression.  His parents lost their ranch in the Dakotas, Cliff grew up herding sheep as a young man on the prairie in the Dakotas.  In 1937 he set off to visit his aunt and uncle in Illinois by train.  On his way he stopped in Princeton to visit another aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. O.C. Erickson.  After getting off the train in Princeton and seeing the beautiful green grass and trees, he thought he was in heaven and he never left.  He made it his home.  While working on the farm, he “noticed” a neighbor girl while riding her bike.  He later married Deloris Talberg on July 28, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Princeton.  They recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. He also worked at Smith Systems in Princeton for many years.   Cliff loved farming, deer hunting, fishing and spending time in his garden.  He loved his family and his two granddaughters were extra special to him.  He is a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris of Princeton; son LeRoy of Princeton; daughter, Linda (Ken) Stavrum of St. Cloud; granddaughters, Kristin (Thomas) Connolly of Harris; Amy (Travis) Vogt of Sauk Rapids; brother, Herman (Marion) of Columbus, MT; sister, Ada Fraunfelter of Isanti.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Tom, brother, Chester, sisters, Dorothy Allen, Henrietta Mckechnie, Donna Klein, and Maxine Bargfeld.

Funeral services were Monday, September 3, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Princeton.  Burial was at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Princeton.
