Two dead after head-on bike collision

Two men are dead after the motorcycles they were driving crashed head-on at the intersection of County Road 4 and County Road 61 in Gilmanton Township last Thursday, Aug. 30.

Benton County deputies were dispatched to the scene around 5 p.m. and both motorcyclists were pronounced dead.

Witnesses and a preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle driven by Patrick Ogg, 52, of Foley was headed eastbound on County Road 4 and was attempting to pass other eastbound vehicles just prior to the collision. When Ogg’s motorcycle entered the westbound lane to pass another vehicle, it crashed head-on with the westbound motorcycle driven by Larry Sorenson, 61, of West Union.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office said the collision remains under investigation at this time. Benton County deputies were assisted at the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, the Foley police and fire departments, and the Benton County Medical Examiner’s Office.
