Hosting neighborly rival Zimmerman Sept. 14, Princeton football trailed 25-7 early in the second half, but the Tigers rallied before falling 25-21 for their first loss of the 2012 season. The Thunder, ranked 9th in Class 4A Football, are now 10-0 in Granite Ridge games since joining the conference last season.

Billy McClay’s 20-yard TD reception opened the scoring. After the Thunder took their largest lead following a 49-yard Colin Ashley ‘pick-six,’ Princeton got close on TDs from McClay (6-yard run) and Josh Osborn (7-yard run). On their final possession, the Tigers reached midfield before running out of downs.

Chase Lindenfelser hit the corner during a rushing attempt against Zimmerman. Lindenfelser led Tiger backs with 57 yards on the ground in the 25-21 loss.

Next up: Princeton travels to Little Falls Friday, Sept. 21. The Flyers (0-3) were blanked by Becker 38-0 last week.
