Stillwater boys, Wayzata girls pace Class AAAA at Mega Meet

Stillwater claimed Class AAAA boys honors while Wayzata won the Class AAAA girls title at the annual Milaca Mega Cross Country Meet Saturday at Stones Throw Golf Course.

Other boys champions included Pelican Rapids in Class A, Perham in Class AA and Grand Forks Red River in Class AAA.

Other girls team champions were United South Central in Class A, St. Cloud Cathedral in Class AA and Monticello in Class AAA.

Individual boys champions included:

•Class AAAA – Stillwater senior Wade Hall, 15:25.3.

•Class AAA – Chaska sophomore Joey Duerr, 15:54.3.

•Class AA – Proctor senior Matt Welch, 15:18.0.

•Class A – Pelican Rapids senior Cody Bekkerus, 16:24.8.

Individual girls champions included:

•Class AAAA – Bemidji sophomore Jenna Truedson, 14:06.1.

•Class AAA – Big Lake senior Noelle Olson, 14:22.8.

•Class AA – St. Cloud Christian junior McKenzie Holt, 14:12.6.

•Class A – United South Central junior Emily Mantor, 14:34.8.

Holt set a new Class AA meet record, breaking the mark of 14:33.3 by St. Cloud Cathedral’s Elena Danielson in 2010.


For host Milaca, Allison Mathison placed third in the seventh grade girls race while her sister Abigale placed 15th.

In the 10th grade girls race, Alex Ploeger finished 15th and Irina Danilyuk placed 21st.
