PHS grad Klaphake NCC Player of Week for beating Bulldogs

St. Cloud State University junior quarterback Phil Klaphake (Princeton) was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 1. Klaphake earned the honor through his efforts in the Huskies’ epic 51-49 victory over 2nd-ranked Minnesota-Duluth on Sept. 29 in St. Cloud.

Klaphake threw five touchdown passes of 23, 36, 16, 19 and 8 yards and rushed for a sixth to lead SCSU to the win over the Bulldogs. Klaphake set a single game school record for his 461 passing yards (46 att/32 comp/1 int). He engineered a 10-play, 75-yard drive with 1:16 to go. At the eight with :03 seconds left, Klaphake scrambled and found runningback Michael Walker on the right side for the game-winning touchdown as time expired.  Photo courtesy of SCSU Sports Information
