Deb Ulm has served the Princeton School District as a school board member for 13+ years.
I was familiar with her work on the board as a principal at North Elementary from 1998-2000. She was approachable, hardworking and her goal was what was best for the students of the district within the district’s fiscal abilities of that time. Deb asked good questions about ideas and proposals brought before the board. Deb understood that the board approved personnel hires and then allowed the people hired to do their jobs without interference.
Several years later, I had the privilege to serve on the school board with her. She was very knowledgeable about school laws, school finance, and policy development, as well as an understanding of the views and pulse of the community. She was fiscally responsible and conservative about spending taxpayer monies.
In areas she had less experience and knowledge she would seek the information from the people hired to know the answers. She was wise enough to follow the necessary organizational chain of command. Deb came to meetings prepared to discuss the items on the agenda. She always did her homework and was ready to listen and discuss. The decisions she made were based on facts not emotions.
Deb Ulm was recognized by the Minnesota School Boards Association for her commitment and ability as a board member.
I believe that a write-in vote for Deb Ulm is good for the students of Princeton schools as well as the Princeton community.
