Elaine Wenzel

Elaine Joyce Abrahamson Wenzel, age 86, entered gently into the presence of her Lord Jesus, surrounded by her family at home in Saratoga, California. Elaine was born in Minneapolis and raised on a farm near Princeton, Minnesota, the eldest child of Olaf and Agnes Abrahamson. After graduating from Princeton HS in 1943 she moved to Portland, Oregon to support the war effort, working as a welder in a Portland shipyard. She then returned to Minneapolis and worked for General Mills as an accountant. Finding the love of her life on a blind date, Elaine married James G. Wenzel on June 17th, 1950. They moved to San Diego, where she was a group leader in accounting for Convair Corporation and then started a family. In 1962, the Wenzels relocated to Saratoga, where she devoted herself to homemaking. Her many interests included gourmet cooking, entertaining, dancing, playing cards, singing in the church choir, travelling abroad, visiting with family and friends, and cheering on her San Francisco Giants. An ever gracious and loving bride, wife and mother, Elaine was devoted to her husband and to the raising of their four children Lori Lynn Taylor (Ross), Jodi Ann Bjurman (Phillip), Sheri Lee Wenzel (Beth), and James Gottlieb Wenzel II (Kellie). In addition to her husband and children, Elaine is survived by her sisters Marlys Hamann and Beulah Kay Trunk, foster brother Harris Engebretsen, and grandchildren Douglas, Kelli and Daniel Taylor, and David, Derek and Gregory Bjurman.
