Man gets wish: Jail over more time with wife

Eustaquio Israel Morales-Hernandez stated several times on December 12 that he would rather go to jail than stay with his wife.

He got his wish after allegedly throwing a metal food can and a bag of sugar at his wife.

Princeton Police responded to 1218 11th Avenue N. that night on a domestic disturbance call.

What they found was a couple recently located from Minneapolis, who appear to have started fighting over a posting on the Facebook social media website.

Morales-Hernandez, who admitted to police that he was intoxicated after drinking eight or nine beers, was looking at the Facebook page of an ex-girlfriend when he was caught by his wife, alleges a criminal complaint filed in Mille Lacs County District Court. The wife stated that the ex-girlfriend looked like a man. Morales-Hernandez responded that if the ex-girlfriend looked like a man, his wife looked like a cow, the complaint states.

The two went back and forth. The woman called her husband a Mexican burrito and an illegal alien. He responded by calling her an elephant.

The wife alleges that Morales-Hernandez then threw things at her in the kitchen, with one item hitting her in the face. Police officers found a metal food can and a bag of sugar on the kitchen floor.

After police arrived, Morales-Hernandez stated several times that he would rather go to jail than stay with his wife.

So after police determined there was sufficient evidence to book Morales-Hernandez on domestic assault charges, he willing put out his hands so he could be handcuffed. In an uncharacteristic note, police even noted in their report how cooperative Morales-Hernandez was during his arrest and booking process.

Morales-Hernandez was charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic assault- intentionally attempting to inflict bodily harm. He has a pretrial conference hearing scheduled for January 22, 2013. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
