Gloria Fobbe

Gloria Jaunich Fobbe, age 83 of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.

Gloria Jaunich Fobbe was born February 10, 1929 in Delano, the Fobbe, Gloriadaughter of Peter and Mamie (Motzko) Jaunich. She graduated from St. Cloud Teacher’s College in 1946. Her first teaching job was in Maple Lake where she met the love of her life, Gene Fobbe. They were married on September 10, 1952 at St. Mary’s of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Delano.

Gloria and Gene had four children together. She left the teaching profession to care for them while living in Long Lake. Gene and Gloria moved to Little Elk Lake in 1988.

Once in the Princeton area, Gloria became involved in many areas of community service.  She was extremely dedicated to helping others and caring for the community.  She was a very active member of Christ Our Light, serving in many ministries including RCIC, adult choir, bell choir and as eucharistic minister.  Gloria was also a volunteer at the Used Clothing Center, and gave communion to the residents at the Elim Home.  She was a member of Auxiliary VFW Post 806 and the American Legion Post #216, both of Princeton.

She delighted in her 10 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  She was their biggest cheerleader, attending their activities whenever possible.

Gloria is survived by Gene , her loving husband of 60 years; children Beth (Robert), Dan (Diane), Lisa (David), Americo (Alex); grandchildren Clayton,

Catherine, Danielle, Jacob, Paris, Francesca, Angelo, Domenic, Gino, Jason; six step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters Alice Fink, Verdella (John) Musech, Diane Madden; brothers Harvey (Leslie) Jaunich; sister-in-law Eldoris Jaunich; and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her son Tony,  brother Wallace Jaunich,  and sister Laura Hahn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Princeton Scholarship Fund or Christ Our Light Catholic Parish.

Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Jan. 21 at Christ Our Light Catholic Parish- North Campus, Princeton.
