Sierks inks racetrack lease

It’s official.

The Princeton Speedway has a new operator and races will continue during the 2013 racing season and beyond.

The Mille Lacs County Agricultural Society has inked an agreement with Princeton Speedway, Inc., to operate the quarter-mile track on the Mille Lacs County Fairgrounds for the next three years. Tim Sierks, owner of Minuteman Press in Princeton is the company’s CEO. Princeton attorney Scott Berry has emerged as the company’s president.

Under the agreement, the Mille Lacs County Agricultural Society will lease the track to Princeton Speedway, Inc. for $12,000 each year, according to Michele McPherson, director of the county’s land services office and a member of the speedway committee. Princeton Speedway, Inc. will be responsible for promotion of and conducting Wissota-sanctioned races on Friday nights. Princeton Speedway, Inc. will negotiate with outside vendors for food and alcohol sales, she said.

In the coming weeks, the Princeton Speedway website and phones will be reactivated

Mille Lacs County Agricultural Society officials said Tuesday they look forward to a successful race season in 2013, and for years to come.
