Pound of hamburger packs a punch

Where’s the beef?

On March 28, it was in the hands of an Onamia woman who used a one-pound package of hamburger to assault her cousin.

Ricki Arlene Boswell, 29, is charged with domestic assault and could face a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine for throwing a tube of frozen meat.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the Mille Lacs County District Court, the Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department was dispatched to 43669 Henry Davis Drive in Onamia, where Boswell was allegedly involved in a fight with her cousin on a front porch.

The cousin had said some things about Boswell, who then punched him in the face, the complaint states.

Boswell told authorities that she then threw the one-pound tube of frozen hamburger at her cousin – hitting him in the head – because he was coming at her, the report states.

But a witness at the scene said she saw Boswell throw the hamburger at the cousin’s head, and that started the physical fight. They began punching each other after the hamburger was thrown, the witness stated.

Boswell also grabbed her cousin’s shirt and ripped it, the complaint states.

Boswell has three previous convictions for fifth degree assault and a conviction for felony domestic assault.
