Norma was born February 27, 1925, in Newfolden, the daughter of Kittel and Hilda (Langlie) Sollom. After graduating from Newfolden High School in 1941, and  Aaker’s Business College in Grand Forks, N.D., she worked as a bookkeeper for two and a half years. She then attended the Prairie Bible Institute at Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, for four years, graduating in 1949. She was accepted into the Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM) and assigned to Venezuela, arriving on the field in 1950. The mission placed her in Tovar, a small city in the Andes Mountains. She worked mostly with women and children in evangelistic work in Tovar and neighboring towns. Just one week before she left for her first furlough in 1954, some Free Church missionaries visited her station. In that group was a single fellow named Harvey Anderson from Lowry, Minn. A courtship by correspondence developed. After seven and a half months, Harvey proposed and she accepted. She was united in marriage to Harvey Anderson on March 19, 1955, at the Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls. Norma transferred from TEAM to the Free Church Mission and she and Harvey returned to Venezuela in May of 1955. During her 34 years of mission field work after her marriage, Norma served as treasurer and bookkeeper for the Mission, the Bible Institute, and the Seminary at different times. During a furlough in 1960, Harvey and Norma’s son Brent was born. In 1987, Norma acquired a daughter-in-law, Beckie Tuttle, a missionary’s daughter born in Venezuela. Harvey and Norma retired July 1, 1988, and lived in Princeton, where they purchased their first home. During their missionary career, they lived in forty different places. Most recently, Norma was very active in the Wyanett Evangelical Free Church.
Norma is survived by her son Brent (Beckie) Anderson of Golden Valley; grandson Jonathan of Golden Valley; siblings Verna (Clyde) Christensen of Thief River Falls, Elwood Sollom of Calif., Adrian (Sue) Sollom of Calif., and Elvida (John) Kastelein of Ariz.; sister-in-law Belva Jean Sollom of Ariz.; along with many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and many members of her extended missionary family.
