Tuesday music schedule announced

The first of eight weekly concerts in this year’s “Tuesdays in the Park” concert series kicks off June 4.
All of the concerts will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Mille Lacs County Historical Society depot center, 101 S. 10th Ave., Princeton. Attendees need only bring chairs or blankets to sit on for these free concerts.
Here’s the concert-series lineup:
June 4 – The Andrew Walesch Big Band
June 11 – Everett Smithson Blues
June 18 – Jerry Chmielewski Polka Band
June 25 – The Blackburn Trio
July 2 – The Tarveys (Paul Imholte and Kerry Oberg)
July 9 – Elizabeth Keeney
July 16 – BLT Band
July 23 – Tom Vrchota
The series promises musical variety. Keeney, a teacher at Princeton’s North Elementary, was winner of a Minnesota Idol musical competition in 2003, and is known for her country music. She will be backed up by a band headed by Kevin Lange. Vrchota, a longtime insurance agent in Princeton, plays guitar and sings alternative country. The Tarveys, consisting of Paul Imholte, of St. Cloud, and Karie Oberg, of Hager City, Wis., describe their music as “Farmicana,” about small towns and rural areas. The remaining groups will provide a cross section of blues, rock, bluegrass Creole, polka and big band music.
