Karen Jo Mueller

Karen Jo Mueller, 75, of Fort Madison formerly of Donnellson, Iowa, passed away at 10:35 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013 at The Madison in2295842_300x300_1 Fort Madison, Iowa from Multiple Myeloma cancer complications.

Born May 16, 1938 in Keokuk, Iowa the daughter of Jay and Phoebe (Wardlow) Tweedy. On January 31, 1959 she married Roy LaVerne Marsh in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1977. On May 16, 1997 she married Rex D. Mueller in Milaca, Minnesota.

Survivors include her husband Rex of Sunnybrook, in Fort Madison, two sons Roy C. (Mary) Marsh of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Ray Marsh of Hastings, Minnesota, two daughters Valerie (Daren) Nelson of Princeton, Minnesota and Rochelle (David) Lindsey of Collierville, Tennessee, one step-daughter Kathy Hall (Terry Pitts) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two step-sons Dan (Shelly) Mueller of Fort Madison, Iowa and Doug Mueller of Florida, nine grandchildren Danielle (Jonathan) Slade, Jennifer (Jesse) McCullough, Bradley Marsh, Tyler Marsh, Dana Marsh, Anna Marsh, Derek (Michon) Nelson, Jessica Nelson and Mason Lindsey, five step-grandchildren Matthew (Heidi) Allred, Kelley Allred, David Hall, Nicholas (Sarah) Mueller and Jessica (Brennan) Umthun, four great-grandchildren Alexandria Slade and Eric Slade, Cora Umthun and Connor McCullough. Three brothers Jay Dee (Joyce) Tweedy of Argyle, Iowa and John Tweedy of Montrose, Iowa and Joe (Jan) Tweedy of Argyle, Iowa and two sisters Elsie (Wayne) Stevens of Montrose, Iowa and Ann (Larry) Tripp of Niota, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Roy L. Marsh, grandson Christopher Nelson and sister-in-law Jeanette Tweedy.

Karen graduated from Argyle Consolidated Schools in Argyle, Iowa. She and her family lived twenty seven years in Milaca, Minnesota, where she was employed by Mille Lacs County Extension Service, Mille Lacs County Social Services, J.A. Allen Insurance Agency and retired from First National Bank of Milaca in 1997. In Minnesota, she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Milaca and in Iowa, the Donnellson Presbyterian Church and she attended Zion Mennonite Church in Donnellson. Karen was also a member of the Donnellson American Legion Auxiliary.

Her body has been deeded to the University of Iowa Anatomy Department.

Friends may call and meet with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, Iowa.

Burial will be at a later date at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca, Minnesota.

In lieu of flowers and food memorials may be made in her memory to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
