4-year-old injured in mower accident

A 4-year-old rural Princeton boy was injured Sunday, July 7, by a riding lawn mower.
Jacob Hoeft, the father of the boy, told Mille Lacs County Deputy Brad Barnes that he accidently ran over his son while mowing the lawn.
A Mille Lacs County 911 dispatcher referred to the boy’s injury as a “traumatic leg injury.”
The county communications center received a 911 calling at about 5:15 p.m. July 7 reporting the accident at 1108 Abby Road. Barnes arrived on scene as an ambulance was leaving the residence, according to Mille Lacs County Sheriff Brent Lindgren. Barnes was told that a boy had been cut on the leg by a lawn mower.
Barnes spoke with the boy’s father, Jacob Hoeft, as Hoeft was preparing to follow the ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital in his personal vehicle.
Hoeft told Barnes that he was mowing the lawn with a riding lawn mower. He backed up and ended up running over his son, Lindgren said.
