Princeton Speedway: Read takes Street Stocks trophy

Despite the random showers that occurred throughout the race evening, the Princeton Speedway was able to complete a full show of WISSOTA Amsoil Dirt Track Racing Series action. Dave Read, Bud Martini, Kyle Thell, Shane Sabraski, Dave Cain and Matthew Dibb took the trophies home.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks kicked off the night’s features with Dave Read, John Adams and Brad Schmidt three wide for first. Read took the point with Schmidt in second. Mike Blowers moved next to Schmdit, but Schmidt held the point. Kyle Howland moved into fourth and on Blowers’ rear while Schmidt moved to Read’s door. Schmidt caught something and his nose cone began to wave in the air, but Schmidt kept racing and moved to Read’s side. They ran door to door as the caution waved.

Read was first on the restart with Schmidt and Blowers in tow. Blowers grabbed second but Schmidt moved to his side. Blowers drove away and locked in second and Howland took third. Read took the checkers and swept the night with a heat win as well. Blowers, Howland, Schmidt and Ryan Kostreba took the top points.

Elizabeth and Jacob Toepper brought the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds to the line for their feature, and as the green flew Sabraski sped into the lead and Tyler English took second. Bud Martini took third and passed English. He then chased down Sabraski while Dave Siercks and Danny Vang crept into the top five. Vang Passed Siercks and English for third as the yellow flew.

Sabraski was first on the restart but eager Martini and Vang were behind him. Martini moved to Sabraski’s door with Vang on their rears. The laps ticked by with Sabraski on the cushion and Martini on the tires. With two laps to go, Martini made the pass and secured the lead with Sabraski, Vang, Siercks and English in the top five. They finished in that order as the checkers flew with Martini wheeling his Plato’s Closet sponsored #42 into victory lane.

Mitch Hribar took the lead as the Green dropped for the WISSOTA Mod Fours. Ross Mead moved into second but Keith Thell passed him for the point. Thell then moved next to Hribar for the lead and passed him on the low groove. Kyle Thell went from tenth to third as he moved behind Hribar. Keith and Hribar took the high side as Kyle blew past them on the low. Kyle Thell took the lead with Hribar back at Keith’s door. Hribar took second, but Keith didn’t back down and moved back to his side. Kyle Thell began to lap slower drivers and soon Hribar and Keith were prepared to lap. As they drove through the traffic, Hribar took second putting Keith in third. Kyle was ahead by a straight away and took the win with Hribar, Keith Thell, Andy Mayavski and Mike Rau in the top five.

The WISSOTA Super Stocks took the track with Donnie Lofdahl and Mike Loomis leading the way. Loomis took the lead with Lofdahl and Mass behind him. Mass moved next to Lofdahl and took the point as Sabraski moved in. Sabraski took third and was next to Mass for second as they caught a slower driver. Loomis, Mass and Sabraski ran close with Loomis holding the lead. Sabraski moved to the low groove and made the pass on Loomis for first. Loomis and Mass battled for second as Dan Gullikson joined them. Gullikson took third and Loomis fell to fourth with few laps to go. Sabraski crossed the line for the win with Mass, Gullikson, Loomis and Dexton Koch as the top drivers.

The Princeton Hornets took the track next with Drew Johnson and Jasmin Matthewman on the pole. Erik Gruhlke passed them both for the lead with Matthewman in second. Matthew Dib moved next to Zac Hribar for third, but then Dibb fell back in the pack. Dibb straightened out and was back at Hribar’s door. Dibb took third, and then passed Matthewman for second. Dibb was at Gruhlke’s side as they took the white flag and Dibb took the lead. Dibb lead the final lap and took another Princeton Speedway feature win.

The WISSOTA Modifieds finished out the night in style by completing our fourth straight caution free feature. Erik Peterson took the lead as the green flew with Larry Zeller at his side. Jeff Patchen moved into third and Dave Cain battled Terry Hanson for fourth. Peterson pulled away from Zeller for the lead and Patchen also passed Zeller. J.B. Stortz moved into third with Cain at his door. Cain took third and ran a bit too high on the track’s edge. Cain slid over for a second but came back and retained third. Shane Sabraski then went under Cain for third, but Cain sped away and moved to Patchen’s side for second. Patchen and Cain ran door to door as they closed in on Peterson. With two laps to go Cain moved to Peterson’s side and they battled for first. The checkers waved as Cain shot underneath them. Cain took the win in his Outlaw Wraps sponsored Modified with Peterson, Patchen, Sabraski and Stortz in the top five.
