Obituary: LaVerne M. Kohout

LaVerne M. Kohout, age 77 of Princeton, MN passed away Friday, August 2, 2013, surrounded by her family at her home in Princeton.obit Kohout, LaVerne

LaVerne was born March 14, 1936 in Granite Township, Morrison County, MN the daughter of James and Magdalena (Schomer) Johnson.  She was united in marriage to Lawrence Kohout on June 20, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Little Falls, MN.  The couple moved to Princeton in 1972. Laverne worked as a Dental Assistant for over 20 years at the Fraser Bornholdt dental practice in Princeton.  Family was LaVerne’s first priority in life.  She loved spending time with her family and was especially proud to be a Mom and a Grandma.  She considered each of her grandchildren to be a special blessing.  LaVerne loved planning and hosting family gatherings.  She was a very gifted cook and loved to cook for family and friends.  She enjoyed traveling and took many trips with her sisters too.  LaVerne also had an interest in flower gardening and enjoyed decorating her home.  She was a spirited Vikings fan and a member of her local Homemakers group.

LaVerne is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Lawrence; children, Todd (Stacy) Kohout, Julie (Kelly) Scherbing, Jamison (Leslie Wedel) Kohout; grandchildren, Nicholas, Lauren, Alyssa, Christopher, Jackson, Beckett and Ava; brother, Howard Johnson; sisters, Ellie (Ron) Tschida, Lorraine Walz and Shirley Bleichner; many loving nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving siblings and relatives.

A Mass of Christian Burial for LaVerne was held at 11: 00 AM on Wednesday, August 7th, 2013 at Christ Our Light Catholic Parish- North Campus in Princeton. Visitation was held from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, August 6th , 2013 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Princeton and one hour prior to the services at church on Wednesday.   Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
