Teddy bears on motorcycles to take over the road

Teddy bears will be riding the backs of motorcycles from Bock to Mille Lacs Lac to benefit sick children at Minneapolis Children’s Hospital.

Roy’s Place in Bock is hosting its second annual “Roy’s Teddy Bear Ride, on teddy-bear-pixSaturday, Aug. 17. Motorcycles leave Roy’s Place at 11:15 a.m.

From Bock, motorcyclists will head to the Castaway Resort in Malmo, then the Green Lantern in Pine Center. The Red Rooster in Genola is the third stop. Bikers and bears will then go to Goodfellows in Foley before returning to Roy’s.

Last year, the ride brought in 120 teddy bears for children at the hospital, said Greg Carlson, owner of Roy’s Place. It also brought in about $5,000, said Carlson’s daughter Linda Rogers, the event coordinator. They to increase the donations this year.

“We do it for the kids” Carlson said.

Bears will be for sale at Roy’s Place prior to the start of the ride. A $20 fee is collected, which covers door prizes, food and a donation to the children’s hospital.
