New bullying prevention program needs slogan

In observance of Bullying Prevention Awareness month and the kick-off of Milaca Public Schools’ recent adoption of the anti-bullying program Olweus, a contest is being offered for those wishing to help develop the program’s logo and slogan.

Milaca Public Schools and the Pearl Crisis Center are teaming up to offer the contest, which runs the entire month of October.

Artwork used in the logo must represent the goals and components of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.

Components include school, classroom, individual, parent and community.

Olweus goals include:

•To reduce existing bullying problems among students.

•To prevent the development of new bullying problems.

•To achieve better peer relations at school.

Anyone in the Milaca School District can enter the contest. Artwork must be appropriate, tasteful and non-copyrighted. Finished artwork must be delivered to Pearl Crisis Center by 4 p.m. Oct. 31.

The winning logo or slogan will be used to represent the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program in the schools and community. The person whose winning design is chosen will receive a $100 Visa gift card.
