Princeton man dies in single-vehicle rollover in Isanti County

A 43-year-old Princeton man has died from injuries he sustained in a single-vehicle accident late Friday evening.
According to a press release provided by the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to County Road 5 and Zuni Street near Oxlip for a motor vehicle upside down with the cab submerged in a swamp on Nov. 8 around midnight.
Upon arrival, deputies entered the swamp and found that one male was trapped in the submerged vehicle. Isanti Fire Department arrived and assisted in pulling the vehicle out of the water so they could get the male out of the vehicle. He was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center and later died due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Isanti County Chief Deputy Chris Caulk confirmed the deceased is Mike Blackledge, 43, of Princeton.
“Road conditions didn’t appear to be a factor in the crash, and based on police reports, it appears this was a single-vehicle rollover,” Caulk said. “That area is swampy and the ditches are deep. We would like to commend the Isanti Fire Department for the excellent job they did and for the large number of firefighters that responded to the scene.”
Caulk said the accident remains under investigation.
Assisting the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Isanti Fire Department, Allina Ambulance and Isanti County Safety and Rescue.
