The 2013-14 winter high school sports season at Princeton officially kicked off when the Tiger girls hockey team hosted Spring Lake Park Thursday, Nov. 14. The Panthers spoiled Princeton’s home opener by taking the non-conference game 3-0.
The game began with Tiger eighth grade goalie Kara Schramel making three saves within the first minute and a half of action. The Panthers then went on a power play around the four-minute mark of the first period, but the Tiger defense cleared the puck four times to keep the pressure off the net.
Right after the penalty expired, Princeton’s first line of Raegan Anderson, Bridget Walter and Jordan Blomquist kept the action in the SLP end with a good burst of energy and shots on goal. Princeton fought off another Panther power play later in the period which ended at 0-0.
Spring Lake Park limited the Tigers to five shots on net in the scoreless second period. The Panthers then took control with three goals in the third, including two scored within 52 seconds of each other. Kim Patterson netted two of the team’s goals.
