Opskar memorial tourney

Marine Color Guard

A U.S. Marine color guard unit from the Marine recruiting substation in St. Cloud posted the colors before two Princeon Youth Hockey Association (PYHA) games Friday evening, Jan. 10, of the annual Bryan Opskar Memorial Tournament. The color guard is shown here before the start of the Squirts C division game between Princeton and Becker-Big Lake. The other game was a Peewee B-2 game between Princeton and Willmar. The Jan. 10-12 tournament was a memorial to Princeton native Bryan Opskar, a Marine sergeant killed during patrol in Iraq on July 23, 2005, and a hockey player as a youth, and in high school and college. In photo from left are Opskar’s father Erling Opskar, and Marines Sgt. Josue Dimas, Gunnery Sgt. Chris Hanzlik, Sgt. Gerardo Rosales, and Pvt. Colby Petersen.
