PHS speech team second at first meet of season

The Princeton High School speech team placed second, with 10 of its students placing at the team’s first meet of the season – the 15-school competition at Cathedral High School in St. Cloud on Feb. 1.

“The Princeton students had a great time and they represented Princeton well,” Princeton head coach Thor Mattick said. Besides the 10 students who placed for Princeton, three more students received honorable mentions, Mattick noted.

Dassel-Cokato won the meet, followed by Princeton, Cathedral and Totino-Grace.


Individual results

Great speeches– Annika Peterson, first, and Emma Carlberg, fourth.

Storytelling – Gino Fraboni, second; Josh Malley, third; Morgan Snyder, fourth; and Zoe Thorson sixth.

Discussion – Megan Frandsen, third, and Winter Manisto-Saari, honorable mention.

Poetry – Sam Glauvitz, third.

Original oratory – Michael Huebsch, third.

Extemporaneous reading – Abbi Miller, eighth, and Katie Hicks, honorable mention.

Drama – Fraboni, honorable mention.

Princeton’s next meet will be Saturday, Feb. 8, in Ogilvie.
