Pedersen: People came together to strengthen Milaca

While serving this community as mayor over the last few years, I have tried to keep what is best for all citizens of Milaca in mind and tried to encourage people to be civic minded in their actions.  It is with these things in mind that I was happy to see people coming together for the purpose of strengthening our community at the business expo this last Saturday at the Milaca High School. It is when different groups come together that a strong community is formed.
That is why I want to give a special thank you to the Milaca Chamber of Commerce and the Milaca Education Association teachers union for the work they did at the expo. As always, the chamber did a fabulous job of organizing a very successful event for our local businesses to showcase what our great community has to offer. Our Milaca teachers sponsored and provided a delicious breakfast to those that came down to the event. This is a great example of the collaboration between organizations that builds strong communities. As members of this community, we need to continue to support our businesses and our teachers.
I would also like to thank Tammy James, Dave Dillan and the other members of the Milaca Community Action Team for their work on establishing the “Got Time” volunteering campaign. You may have seen some the work this group has done in ads that have been in the Town and Country Shopper or if you visited their booth at the expo. If you were unable to be at the expo, you can visit to see how you can help make Milaca a better place to live, work and shop by volunteering an hour at a time. The Milaca Community Action Team can help you pick what hours, projects and events are available for you to volunteer and help our community stay strong and grow.
Last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank ECM and the Town and Country Shopper for running what I believe to be an award-winning ad campaign with the “Got Time” advertisements. They, along with Tammy James, made a fun and intriguing campaign that got people talking about volunteering. I encourage all the members the greater Milaca community to give a little of your time to support our community and help make Milaca a great place to live, work and shop.
