July 4 fireworks at end of speedway races

This year’s July 4 fireworks in Princeton will take place at the county fairgrounds in Princeton the evening of that day after the Princeton Speedway races are over.
The local American Legion post is again underwriting the $10,000 cost of the fireworks and as of the morning of June 16, was $2,500 short of the total.
Whitcomb and Art Skarohlid, who is on the fireworks committee, noted that the Legion won’t have a program saluting various veterans like it has had in the past. Also, the Legion won’t be hosting activities before the fireworks.
Sierks said he is working to set up activities prior to the races, which begin at 7 p.m. He also said in light of the need for more donations for the fireworks, he will set up a contribution receptacle for people to donate.
Anyone wanting to donate in advance can write a check to Princeton Fireworks Fund and address the envelope to Bremer Bank, 202 S. Rum River Drive, Princeton, MN 55371.
After the races, admission to the fireworks is free.
