Helen Erickson

IMG_1733Helen Elizabeth Erickson of Princeton passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Fairview Northland Hospital in Princeton.
Helen was born on October 16, 1918 in Princeton, Minnesota, the daughter of Nels and Emma (Lindstrom) Johnson. On June 21, 1941 Helen was united in marriage to George Erickson. The couple was blessed with two children, Marlin and Ione. Helen and George made their home on the familys farmstead in Greenbush Township until moving to Country Meadows in 2008 and then to the Elim Home in Milaca. Helen taught at grade schools in Benton and Mille Lacs Counties. She was a homemaker who was also employed at Fingerhut in the 50s and 60s.
Helen loved to garden; growing all types of vegetables and flowers. She was an active member at her church where she served as treasurer for over 30 years. She participated in womens group and activities. Helen was Grandma to many because of her kind, loving spirit and willingness to help anyone. She will be missed dearly by many.
Helen is survived by her children, Marlin Erickson of Burke, VA and Ione (Dick) Miles of Lake Shore, MN; granddaughters, Jillayn (Jeremy) Bird of South Range, WI and Jessica (Cory) Kampschroer of Buffalo, MN; great-grandchildren, Claire and Avery Brinker, Nolan and Dane Bird, Riley, Reese and Grady Kampschroer; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, George; parents; and brother George Johnson.
Funeral service held at 1 PM on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Princeton. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Sharon Lutheran Cemetery in Princeton, MN.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home.
