Milaca Elementary gets new boiler system

The students and faculty probably will not notice the difference, but Milaca Elementary will be running on a new boiler system when school starts back up next fall.

Installation of a new hot water boiler began a couple of weeks ago after the removal of the old boiler, which was decades old, according to Milaca Superintendent Jerry Hansen.

Hansen said that the boiler system should be up and running by the end of the month. It joins the other boiler that is a dual-heat system of natural gas and heating fuel that runs in the high school.

“This was done to increase energy efficiency, which in the long run will save the school money,” Hansen said.

Johnson Controls of Plymouth was hired to complete the boiler job.
