Public input requested for development code update project

Mille Lacs County is requesting input from the public to assist in the drafting of an updated Development Code. Residents can provide input and comments anonymously by completing a Development Code Survey and returning it prior to July 31, 2014. The survey is designed to help the County Board, Planning Commission, and Development Code Update Steering Committee write the new Development Code – one of the tools that will help the County move forward in implementing the Comprehensive Plan.

The Mille Lacs County Development Code contains regulations pertaining to land use, zoning, property maintenance, shoreland districts, Wild and Scenic River districts, and overall development within the County. It also contains provisions for different zoning districts, including items such as setbacks and height provisions. The survey results and comments will be compiled into summary form for use by the Development Code Update Steering Committee as they move forward in the update process.

The public can go online to complete the survey at or pick up a print copy of survey at the following locations beginning Thursday, July 17:

Mille Lacs County Historic Courthouse (any office) – Milaca

Community & Veterans Services Office – Milaca

Milaca Community Library – Milaca

If you would like to receive a print copy of the survey by mail, you can contact the Administrative Services Office at 320-983-8218, or email [email protected] to request one.
