Letter: North made community proud

On Nov. 11, as the majority of Princeton and the surrounding community was digging out from the first snow of the year, over 15 veterans were being honored at the North Elementary. We had veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, the Cold War, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The school staff was dealing with a snow day and a two-hour late start. But their focus for Veterans Day was to ensure that there was a proper service to honor the veterans.

With Principal John Beach and Lynn Nettifee leading by example, they put on a very memorable program. I wish I had gotten the names of the Scout leaders who worked on a very short time table to instruct the Scouts on proper respect to our country, flag and veterans. Ms. Keeney’s singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” was outstanding.

We live in a time where it is so easy to be very critical of other people’s actions that we rarely say “thank you” and “great job.” I would like to take this time to say thank you. The program was outstanding and the community of Princeton and the parents can be proud of the staff of North Elementary and the students.
