Four Tiger tennis players named all-conference

After another impressive season ending in a fifth straight conference title, the Tigers earned a few more accolades.
Kelsey Dorr, Reilee Schepper, Anna Dahlen and Gabby Dahlen received all-conference honors. Dorr also received conference MVP after scoring the most points during conference play. She piled up a maximum score of 99, receiving six points every time she started a match as the team’s top singles player and then adding a five-point bump for each of her nine wins.
Anna Dahlen also took home the max for her position as number two singles and sometimes a member of the number one doubles team.
Receiving honorable mentions for the Tigers were Aurora Schossow, Julia Bjurman, Jenna Pauly and Marissa Seurer. The latter two were really surprised after making the jump from junior varsity this season.
“They were totally shocked, said coach Kelly Dorr, “they lit up and were kind of like wow.”
On the strength of these players and the seven others on the varsity roster, the Tigers finished the season 18-5 and 9-0 in Mississippi 8 Conference play. They have won 33 straight conference games, dating back to Sept. 10, 2013.
Next year, their conference goal is to grab the top prize for the highest-scoring doubles team to go along with the top number one and number two singles players. They finished just one win from that achievement this season.
