Frances L. Ewy

Frances Ewy of Milaca passed away July 21, 2017 at the age of 87.
Frances was born to Frank and Christina Garber in Hutchinson, Kansas, on June 9, 1930. She graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, Minnesota and from La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing in La Junta, Colorado.
In 1956, she married Lemont Ewy and the couple resided in Butterfield, Minnesota. They also lived in Alexandria and Elk River before moving to Milaca in 1995. Fran and Lemont had four children: Monte, Mauri, Marti and Mical.
She was a registered nurse for several hospitals and nursing homes, and was a school nurse for the Butterfield-Odin Schools. Fran was an active member of the Butterfield Mennonite Church, and later attended the Alexandria Baptist Church and the Milaca Evangelical Free Church.
She was an artist, crafter, musician and author. She loved her family and friends, and loved to play games and entertain. She was always ready to have visitors. She will be sorely missed.
Frances is survived by her children Marti (Janice), Mical (John Brownson); grandchildren Kaitlyn Ewy, Natasha Ewy, Justine Ricks (Blake), Ashley Morneau and Andrea Morneau; one great-grandchild, Emberlyn Hough; sisters Willa Nafziger, Roma (Leo) Schmidt, and Christina Bachman; sister-in-law Celesta Ewy Podolske; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends,
She was preceded in death by her husband Lemont, children Monte and Mauri, her parents, parents-in-law, sister Rebecca Hoffman, brother Duane Garber, and brother-in-law Lowell Ewy.
Services will be held July 29 at 11 a.m. at the Milaca Evangelical Free Church with a visitation at 10 a.m. prior to the services. Private interment will be held at a later date in the Mennonite Church of Butterfield Cemetery.
