RecFest: Strummin’ on the Rum encouraged

Milaca – They’ll be singing the blues in Milaca’s Rec Park July 27-30 when the annual RecFest bluegrass festival rolls into town. This year’s lineup includes a park full of music, workshops, food and camaraderie.

RecFest kicks off Thursday night with a free 6:30 p.m. performance by Barb Wire.

Friday’s lineup includes the Double Down Daredevils, Sarah Mae and the Birkeland Boys, She’s My Sister, and Porcupine Creek. Saturday, festgoers will be able to see Sarah Mae and the Birkeland Boys, Blue Groove, The Tony Rook Band, Porcupine Creek, and the Double Down Daredevils. Sunday’s lineup includes a jam session, the Ostrom Family Band, She’s My Sister and Stoney Brook. Find performance times on the RecFest website, http://www.milacarecfest.com.

Admission is $20 on Saturday and $10 Friday and Sunday. A weekend pass is available for $25. A youth ticket is available for $10. Tickets are available at the gate.

There will also be a lot of activity Saturday, July 29, in Trimble Park where the Milaca Fine Arts Council will host its annual Art Market. Also as part of RecFest, there will be music workshops led by talented musicians and will include instruction on fiddling, the dobro, playing the bass, singing harmonies, songwriting, jamming, clogging, ukulele, the mandolin, guitar, banjo, yodeling, harmonica.
