City Administrator Mark Karnowski announced that the city, Princeton Public Utilities and business owner Ted Bell of Northstar Canoes had been working together to strike a deal for annexation because of the business’ location within 200 feet of a city wellhead. Located just outside city limits, the business has been planning to construct an addition with a new septic and well to service it. Karnowski said the owner was concerned about protecting the city’s water supply and had agreed to annex into the city. The city arranged for incentives to keep tax rates about the same and the PPU offered to reduce connection fees. Karnowski said the city might prepare a policy that would offer the same deal to four, other, neighboring businesses if any of them ever wanted to annex into the city.
