Motorcyclists injured in Central Avenue crash

Two people were seriously injured when a car hit a motorcycle on Central Avenue in Milaca.
The crash occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27, on Central Avenue at Second Street Northwest and resulted in the closure of Central Avenue, Milaca’s main north-south thoroughfare.
A Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Thomas L. DeVries and passenger Sharon DeVries, both of Milaca, was southbound on Central Avenue. A 2011 Volkswagon Jetta driven by Katelyn Reineccius, of Milaca, was going north on Central Avenue and made a quick left turn in front of the motorcycle at Second Street Northwest, causing the collision,.
Mille Lacs County Sheriff Brent Lindgren said both Thomas and Sharon DeVries sustained serious injuries and were taken from the scene by North Memorial Medical Air and Ambulance.
The situation leading up to the crash continued to be under investigation by the Milaca Police Department.
