Stony Brook Band in concert on Sunday

This Gospel string band, made up of members coming from five churches in the Milaca area, will be in concert beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 10) at the Milaca Evangelical Free Church. The concert is open to the public and a free-will offering will be taken. Area residents are invited to attend a Gospel Concert featuring the Stony Brook Band beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 10) at the Milaca Evangelical Free Church located at 1100 Central Ave. North.
This offering is part of the monthly Summer Concert Series, with a wide variety of entertainment being offered for audiences.
The Stony Brook Band got its start back in 2007 with only four members and now, nearly 10 years later, the string band has grown to 10 members.
Early on, the band mainly went to perform at nursing homes.
Today the group continues to play music for residents of area nursing homes, along with other events, when they are invited to perform.
Organizers indicated the Stony Brook Band is mainly a Gospel string band, with its members coming from five churches throughout the Milaca area.
Members of the band include Ken VanDriel, Norris Johnson, Linda Fredrickson, Ann Johnson, Dan Almquist, Mona Robinson, Jamie Bergh, Gary Eggen, Glen Gadacz and Karl Johnson.
A free-will offering will be taken, while refreshments will be provided following the concert.
The final Summer Concert Series performance is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Oct. 8 with the Sam and Melissa Sahlstrom family performing.
